Why Carla’s Curiosities?

I’ve always had a great work ethic. At 11 years old I had my first casual job cleaning the shelves in the local post office in Wimbledon, followed by paper rounds galore, to working in a florist shop during my school years from 13 to 19. Having always been in some form of work, I played as hard as I worked and would often squander money in quite a ridiculous way and would never have anything to show for it. I’ve always had a curiosity for strange and different pieces, even as a child I would queue outside the local community centre for a jumble sale making my plan of how to reach the bric-a-brac stall before anybody else. Realising over time, that I had a keen eye for art and curio, I began to collect. Nothing thrills me more than acquiring a beautiful, unique piece that I on occasions cannot take my eyes off. One of my greatest pleasures is when people enter my home and spot them dotted around and comment, I have had children as young as 8, to adults in their 80’s, admire my art. My sense of pride is so obvious to them by the beaming smile on my face.
