Hastings

Hastings

Having decided to take a last-minute camping trip away with my family from the hustle and bustle of London we arrived in beautiful and sunny Hastings. Once we had settled on our pitch, we decided to take a stroll about the historical town. I always loved history at school and would often speak to my children about it and of ‘The Battle of Hastings’. Upon our walk we stumbled upon a quaint little back alley away from the main attractions, it was full of unusual antique stores and galleries. It was busy with a lovely atmosphere, there was a busker singing and playing a guitar which left my youngest child mesmerised.

We approached a curiosity shop, it was so magical and felt like an Aladdin’s cave, everything was so unusual, and the smell took me back in time- damp, musty and like an old museum. I felt like I would need a year to take in all the pieces that were calling out to me and find out what each piece was about- it was like they all individually had a life of their own. I had to tell Carla about my discovery and knew she would be taken back by it. I took numerous photographs and sent them to her immediately where she then chose special pieces that may appear on here; I know she gets attached to an object of beauty!

I can’t wait to travel further afield around the UK sourcing other desirable objects.
