Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween has always been my favourite time of the year. The warming feeling that Mother Nature brings with her autumnal season- hues of oranges, reds and browns, combined with the cold fresh chilly air has always excited me.

I can’t think of one person who doesn’t secretly find it a magical time. A certain energy fills the whole day, whether that be for children looking forward to dressing up and going Trick or Treating, or adults becoming children again and using it as an excuse to have some fun!

My childhood friend Ben and I would rush home from school and spend hours dressing up, always in competition to whom could be the coolest and scariest dresser. There was a great little shop in Wimbledon that we would go to and buy bits and pieces like fake blood and fangs- I guess that gives away our favourite Halloween character! ‘Aww ha ha ha ha!, yes Ze Count Dracula. I think it was his teeth that excited me the most and as I’ve grown up, he still is a favourite, though I tend to also sway towards the female vampires who ooze sexiness and are extremely erotic. I must have every version of the film Dracula, and definitely understand it’s passion and depth now that I am an adult!

So…, I decided to Google the meaning of Halloween and this is what came up, courtesy of Google of course.

‘The night of 31 October, the eve of All Saints’ Day, often celebrated by children dressing up in frightening masks and costumes. Halloween is thought to be associated with the Celtic festival Samhain, when ghosts and spirits were believed to be abroad.’

The last bit tickled me a tad and for some reason and I thought of Brexit, then the ghouls, monsters and so and so’s associated with it- ahem!.

Enjoy the day!
